Hey all got this watch recently, it weighs a hefty 50 grams. The movement was replaced with a modern quartz that doesn't even fit in the case back of the watch. It is also rusted and doesn't work. The dial is corroded and not original.... Would you all scrap this? I HATE scrapping but with something like this it's hard to say no... Could I possibly have it converted into a bracelet? Cut the middle part out where the watch goes and connect the two ends? It would probably cost quite a bit to do so.. Thoughts?

Unless you can find something like a gemstone or another watch face to go in the hole left by the watch, I would scrap it. Since you hate doing that, hold it for a while. The bracelet part is awesome and deserves some consideration. Connecting the two ends IMHO would make a rather plain bracelet. There is a jeweler here that I would go to who specializes in recreating/repurposing pieces like this who could maybe think of something. Anyone near you like that? I feel your pain.

Inserting a gemstone into this would be cool. However I forgot to mention this thing is super long. When clasped it literally slips over my entire hand. I wouldnt even be able to wear it regardless...

UhOh, leaning more towards scrap now. So was it a man's watch? It could be, but the watch part seemed small for a man.
