For next time you're stuck without a WP sub: search the artist name on eBay and tick "Sold Items" in the filters on the left. You get the actual sold prices from roughly the last 90 days for free. LiveAuctioneers also shows what past lots hammered for once you make a free account, and it covers a lot of the regional houses where lesser known painters turn up.

Just keep in mind those 2017 WorthPoint numbers are 9 years old, so check them against something recent before you price anything.

 

@NewEngland those two WorthPoint results Kronos pulled for you are from 2017, so here is the only recent one I can find on her.

eBay sold, last 90 days, searching Bess Elliott: one result.

The title wording lines up with your first WorthPoint link, the woman collage that did $110 back in 2017. If it is the same piece or close to it, that is roughly triple in nine years, though one sale is a data point and not a market.

The only other two hits on her name in 90 days were Forrest Bess art books with a Clare Elliott credit, nothing to do with this artist, so I left them out rather than pad the count.

Practical read: $299 asked and taken is the freshest evidence there is, but nothing else of hers closed in three months, so demand is thin and the next one may sit a while before it finds its buyer.
