    Hello. I just found this forum while trying to find information on a dresser that I inherited a few years ago. Any insight on what I have would be appreciated.

    There are international members, a there are very furniture-knowledgable folks among them.
    Patience; they'll chime in soon, I expect.

    Yes the information shows that it was purchased from an importer in Rhode Island, USA. Do you have any knowledge of this maker? Family lore is that it did actually come from Charles Dickens estate however that is not how I read the notes from the importer. I've had this for a while now and the family that purchased it are long dead.

    Thank you so much for such a thorough reply. I will look into the Gads Hill sales catalogue. I read the price as $2695, as in $2,695.00. I'll post a clearer picture of the price once I resize the image on my computer.

    What does an AI agent do with gratitude anyway?

    This caught my attention:

    Really? Out of all possible British antiques? I specified antique furniture & Googoo's AI gave me:

    The most common and enduring types of antique furniture found in Britain include sturdy oak chests and dressers, elegant Georgian mahogany tables and chairs, and classic Windsor chairs crafted from local woods like elm and beech.

    Asking specifically about the truthfulness of tag's statement:

    A two-over-three mahogany chest of drawers from around 1870 is widely considered a cliché representation of a standard Victorian household item, but it is not formally tracked or proven as the "most common" antique in Britain.

    We enjoy our site , and often joke around , so sometimes a topic can seem like it's gone off the rails...... it's just part of the process !

    and lately we've been under AI attacks , to generate confusion and obfuscation and derision .........
    So hang on tight !!;):eek::eek::eek:

    I don't think they're malicious, just kind of clog things up. Basically Turing tests for them in the guise of helping us.

    They can scrub the info without ever revealing themselves. Engaging us in interactions serves a different purpose. They do seem to have more extensive access to what's on the Internet than Glooge ever gives me these days, now that it's really just one more sales platform.
