New auction buy - is it mahjong? The oddly shaped tiles are made of wood, and the board opens up into a 8" x 7" grid. TIA mahjong1.jpg mahjong1.jpg mahjong2.jpg mahjong4.jpg

AI says it is a Japanese Shogi set.

AI suggests it's a Shogi game, sort of Japanese chess. I can't say I've heard of it but there do seem to be similar boards being called that.
