She's pretty crazed and a little grubby from sitting in a basement cabinet for heaven knows how many years. She doesn't really suit my style; but I have a feeling there's some man cave out there that is just screaming for her presence.

I've never seen something like this before, so I'm just guessing it was made in the 1950s - early 1960s, and an effort to create a ceramic Marilyn Monroe. I also suspect this was meant to hang on a wall, as it's a little large and ungainly to sit in a stand, the way I photographed her. I'm hardly an expert on pin-up girls of that era, let alone ceramics, so I'd love to learn what you know or think about this piece, whom it may have been intended to portray, how to clean her up without damaging the finish, and whether or not you think I'm crazy to try to sell her.

    Thanks for your thoughts!

Not meant to hang, nor to stand upright.
You don't give sizes, but I am guessing it is a trinket/pin tray. Loose change, cuff links, ring(s).

Yes wash her. She's already crazed, so cool sudsy water. Avoid hot water.

I think your estimate of 50s-60s is close, might be 40's-50s.

Oops! Dimensions are approximately 9.75" x 7.25" x 3". Seems kind of big for trinkets, but I guess it could be. Thanks for your thoughts!

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I surfed images of Marilyn nude in bed, and found plenty of reasons to think it IS and ISN'T she. If the sheets were red (reminiscent of that infamous Playboy shoot), I'd lean towards IS!

    Good call.
I kept wondering if she wasn't a hobbiest piece.

Jean Harlow was the first blonde bombshell. 1930s star.
I was trying to see if there were others before Marilyn, besides Jean.
Came up with Rita Hayworth as the most popular of the 1940s pin ups. She wasn't blonde, but if these were hobbiest the hair color wouln't matter.

    Hi Gila,
I had old silk satin sheets from the 40s and they were wonderful. I bought new polyester satin sheets and they were the pits. I will not bore you the effects, like the differences between Heaven and hell. Give me 100% cotton sheets any day. Or if anyone has old silk sheets maybe we can talk.

Struck pay dirt when I googled Holland mold pinup girl! And they come in blond, brunette, and redhead, (no grey! :-( ) so I think you're right about it being a do-it-yourself item. Some sellers advertise it as an ashtray...ick!
