    Hello friends,

I have 4 paintings of this type, taken a few years ago at an auction house in Rome
The fabric ... I think it's cotton, or cloth.
Painted and finished with gold thread decorations or simply gilded.
I got them directly with the frame, which seems quite old to me.

I'd like to find out which character it is, maybe a dancer?
I'd like to get to know the character better, from his dress and style, the culture behind this image,
and understand if it's India, Thailand, or anything else ....
and be able to assign it a dating

In order not to overwhelm you with photos, I send you a photo of a painting of the four totals.

They are rather similar to each other, and all handmade

The measures are cm 44.5 x 31.5 (including frame)

There is the glass in front, unfortunately the photos do not really enhance what appears live. Looking at the photos, I must say that the painting appears more "colorful" than the live view, and the golden decorations show less prominence, while live they are very striking. In practice, live, you immediately notice the presence of the gilding that almost "illuminates" the picture, while the photos, both the gilding and the painting, mix more.
Maybe because of the glass, I don't know.

    Thanks for your answers

    Gianluca

Some sort of embroidered Batik cloth. India ?

Southeast Asia for sure, but not necessarily India. The one of the left of the group photo - with the pointed headgear - makes me think Thai or close.

Sri Lanka, South Asia. Batik with metal thread embellishment, very nice Gian.

I think the first one is the Kandyan Ves dance:

    WOW @Any Jewelry
    You're great!
    Thanks a lot :)
In which period will you date circa these 4 batiks? Thanks again for everything

That's a difficult one. They are still making these folk themed batiks, but the metal thread could be a clue.
I hope @Mariyan perera checks in soon and sees this, she lives in Sri Lanka.

It is a craft workshop of frames called Mario which however does not exist anymore the address is from Rome and you have given me a good reading key Because from the phone you understand that there is still the old prefix 6 for Rome instead of 06 and therefore should be around 1970s
    :D
