I guess without a signature is close to impossible to identify the artist?

Student work, not a studio piece.

How one can tell a student work?

It doesn't have the quality of an experienced professional potter. The base isn't good, the shape is out of whack and there isn't any finesse, so hence, student, and I suspect one who entered a different profession.

    Thanks.
I guess crooked shape generally would mean poor skills unless the artist seeked something untraditional or unusual. How hard is even for a student to make a perfect rectangular out of clay? I am not sure what do you mean the base is not good?
