Wooden decoy - home decor or old?

We, too, 'dispatched' our chickens in the fall and filled our freezer and our neighbors' and the ducks went off to a farm somewhere. Except Pogo. I had Pogo for three years and thought he was a he until she laid an egg! She followed me like a puppy. My mother had to keep her in the house in the morning or she'd follow me to the bus stop. One day I came home and Pogo had gone to the farm. Never forgave my parents for not letting me say goodbye.

 

My son got two goats, Jim & Tom. Now he's building a coop for the chickens. Our neighbors are going to share the chicken care so they can get eggs. However, one of the families bought baby chicks at Easter and are waiting to install them. At least one is probably a rooster and we don't want to antagonize the non-farm types on the other side. They told their 8 year old that if it's a rooster, we'll eat it and he cried. Meanies! I'd have just said he ran away. That worked when I was five and my pet turtle wasn't there one day. My mother told me he ran away. It took years for me to figure out that a turtle can't climb out of a tank! Doh.

 

Farm animals are humans food, but a pet duck should stay a pet duck & not duck a l'orange !!

 

I can't eat birds... happens to a lot of parrot owners. The cooked ones look a little too much like you-know-who. No, not my ol' man!

 

It's all part of the circle, greg, but my hubby is right there with YOU!!!!

 

Take it out in the woods and fire a Shotgun shell at it. Makes it look used.

 

Ha! Grew up in a hunting family. Had to watch out for leftover shotgun pellets in pheasant & rabbits.
