It's supposedly a french "kitchen jar" but I don't know anything else about it.

    How old is it?

Size? From the last pic it looks like it has an inner rim for a lid to sit on. Confirm?

    It's a little over 20cm (8 inches) tall.

I don't know what kind of a rim you mean, but it's pretty ''2-dimensional'' and simple around the top.. see the picture:

@GaleriaGila Yeah, that one looks very similar. Mine has though slightly more "flat" handles, not as much space underneath them. And the inside of the pot doesn't have that uneven / striped texture that the rubylane one seems to have.

    Thanks.

No inner rim for a lid. Couldn't tell from the pic. The one Gila found looks very close. Confit jar sounds as good as anything to me. This basic form is sometimes called an oil jar. Confit is preserved meat kept in oil so this makes sense.

  8. Could easily be a confit jar but I would lean more towards an olive jar. It is faience and that you can tell by the greyish creamy colour where it has been chipped. Typical of many faience jars I see where I live. I have a very similar olive jar which has a large cork lid.
