My Mom's half-sister gave her this vase a few years ago, telling her it had belonged to their grandmother - I pegged it as Czech, but thought perhaps y'all might pin down the maker and dating for her. It's a bit shy of 8" tall, ground lip - I thought maybe Welz, 1920s-30s...

The tripod feet scream Welz to me. Let me see if I can get confirmation for you.

I took a look through one of my resources and I'm still not sure LOL. I have cross posted this to another site to get confirmation on my thoughts.

    Cheryl,

Do you know if the dark colour is green or black? (or is there both colours present)

    Cheryl,

I checked with a Welz Guru (He has researched Welz for years) and although he has never seen that exact shape before, the decor is most likely Welz. I tossed out a couple names for the shape and you could be safe calling it the following

Welz Tripod Double Gourd Vase with a Red-Yellow-Black Decor Circa 1920-30

Now, if the dark colour is green with aventurine,

Welz Tripod Double Gourd Vase with a Red-Yellow-Green Aventurine Decor
    Circa 1920-30

My Welz Guru was asking if he could get a really good image of the vase for his shape records.

    I hope this helps

Sorry, was offline for a while - thanks for the rapid response, Desperate_fun! Knew the pics weren't great, but the colors looked true on my phone screen - it's actually clear, yellow, orange, and a very deep, dark red (honestly, the color of dried blood). Neither Mom nor I are particularly fond of it, but have very few family pieces, so I'll see if either of my brothers or my cousin would like it, if not, she'll just keep it for me. Will try to remember to either bring my camera over to Mom's or the vase to my house, and will post better pictures for you to pass on to the 'Welz Guru' - does he just need a good side view?

    Cheryl,

Yes, a good side view would be most helpful. Identical to your first image.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

So does "double gourd" refer to the two globe shapes, please? Would the one I posted be a "single gourd"?

    Gila,

Because the shape has not been identified or named. I gave it a name (It is not the original factory name) I also suggested a "Welz Tripod Dumbbell Vase" My friend who does the Welz Research liked the Double Gourd moniker. I dont know if my name suggestion will stick or not.

I think the vase you posted would be called a "Hyacinth Vase"

Gourd vases are typically round at the bottom. I'll see if I can find a nice example
