Pretty much all I found out about this bayonet is that it's a ersatz bayonet which is pretty broad in how many there are. I know its an early type and handmade, it only has the inspection mark?. Can anybody out there provide a little bit more info on it just by looking at the pictures? It measures 12" and 17" overall. bay 1.jpg bay 2.jpg bay 3.jpg bay 4.jpg bay 5.jpg bay 6.jpg

doesn't "ersatz" imply an inferior substitute or fake?

Never noticed it. I have an old bayonet that Spring once told me looked like it had been buried & dug up. Probably was. My uncle brought it back from WWII and he may have done just that. I'll have to find it and check the guide.
