I think as INH said - you'll find examples of the pattern by searching Blue Onion - but - I think this particular pattern is more correctly called "strawflower".

Isn't this a version of a Cadogan teapot? - and - as others have said, European blue onion pattern so not Asian.

    <edit> ok strawflower then

Thank you for paging me @ineedhelp. Family illness has kept me away. I don't know that I have too much to add. I would agree with Germany and under the general category of strawflower and/or blue onion. Most strawflower is unmarked or has only shape or decorator marks. The strainer and pot match although I'm not sure it's a teapot. I don't know how you would keep the tea warm after you strained it. The pot doesn't look like it would easily accommodate a lid. The size isn't given (that I saw) but I suspect it's fairly small. It could be some type of contraption for the preparation of herbal medications or cereal/gruel strainer so maybe an invalid feeder after all. It's a neat piece.

I was thinking along the same lines, maybe for broth for a sick person.
