White bowl of some sort 1864

Hello again,

This bowl belongs to my mother and I'd like to know what it is. I can't find anything online. Please help me out here. Thanks.

Chris identifies the mark as Erdmann Schlegelmilch used after 1891.

If it has one pouring spout that extends into the bowl (almost like a straw) and the other is just a regular spout then it's a gravy boat separator. I have one and it's great. We use it for hot syrup, we melt butter with it and then you can pour butter from the upper spout and syrup from the other.

 

I'm guessing the photo of the molded mark belongs to something else.

Hello Chris, you say Erdmann Schlegelmilch used after 1891 but it says clearly 1864 above the mark. How can that be?

The site showing the mark is run by Chris Marshall who stops in here from time to time. I can't speak for Chris but what I would imagine is that since he is showing 1861 as the date of the start of the factory I'd think it might be the same as saying "founded in 1861" or "since 1861", something like that, which often appears in logos and marks.
