    Hello friends,
in a lot of paintings auctioned (Rome, Italy) I found these .... "drawings".
They were framed, I opened them, the frames and the glasses were very old and broken, so I recovered the sheets so as not to ruin them
I'd like to find out something about the style, if you recognize the characters portrayed and if you know something of that signature that appears on both sheets ... maybe "Carnevali"? I don't know, the "drawings" intrigue me, above all the style, these are old RAFFAELLO C.V.F. sheets.
    Thanks for your time

    Gianluca

I'm not sure I'd describe those as "old," Gianluca. They certainly appear to be second half of the 20th century and might be later (based on haircuts, clothing and eyeglasses.) Have you done any research on the paper? That would help with more definitive dating. (I see "Raffaello." Is the paper also watermarked "Roma?") And the frames would have been helpful too.

    Hello Debora
You are right I often use the "old" term too much to indicate something very dusty and fascinating but certainly the dating is what you say.
    .
I did a search for the Raffaello cvf but unfortunately I did not find anything on the web.
Near the word Raffaello is impressed C. V. F. but googling i did not find it yet.
The ideal would be to identify the signature.
About the frames they are very broken but ok Tomorrow I will try to take some pictures and send them Thanks a lot for your help.

There are several well quoted Carnevali painters and artists... I'm browsing Google to find a match with that sign :-P

    Updates:

today I discovered that in my "laboratory" of antiques, the frames and the broken glass were thrown by my wife several days ago, patience. However it was a black frame, smooth, classic and common, nothing in particular.

I have an uncle, artist and very fond of drawing, (of which I trust of course but he is quite old ...) he told me that from the style, from the trait, and from other factors that I honestly do not understand and that he understands within himself , it could be a rather quoted draftsman, - Francesco Carnevali - and that these drawings could be placed in the 1970s.
A nationally renowned designer who lived a very long life (born in 1892 and died in 1987)
I send you two reference links for your opinions, thanks :)

Gianluca, those men are not wearing eyeglass shapes from the 1970s. Furthermore, the portraits do not appear to be by Francesco Carnevali's hand. (He was an old fashioned draughtsman; these are made with a much more modern technique.) And finally, here is a genuine work of Carnevali's from the 1970s. I suggest you compare his signature on the back with the signature on yours.

Yes, thank you, he is a very helpful, extravagant person, sometimes he thinks he knows more than he knows, but he is a very good sculptor, passionate about art and drawing, and a good person inside :)
