    Good find.
I read the middle and not the entire article.

Interesting to note that with paper, KOT's idea of lighter fluid is better, where as heat is not a good idea.

With leather it is exactly the opposite.

And I'm wondering if naphtha evaporates better......I might think worth trying with the Q-tip as suggested!!

Isn't that what lighter fluid is?

As long as he brings chocolate, does it matter which one it is?

I'm not absolutely positive but I had the impression that the book whose photo Bev posted was not one of the ones that she bought. Both of the ones she bought were local histories, I thought. That one in the photo is a ledger -- or so it says on the spine.

I used a hair dryer to take off an antique leaf page from 1600. It worked great! I didn't dare use the high/hot setting but did use medium heat. The glue on the tape softened quite fast. I didn't force the tape off, as the glue softened, I lifted a little at a time but it only took a few minutes to get it all off.

Try putting the book in the freezer, wrapped. It makes the tape brittle and you can often get it off.

It almost certainly has moisture in it so what then?
