Does your collection or your home in general, contain one piece that's the cherry on top / the jewel of it all? I mean, a piece that would make the auction catalogue front cover if your possessions were auctioned off in a private auction.. Kind of like Joan Rivers'.

I don't mean a piece with great emotional value, but one of rarity / money value or exceptional uniqueness and desirability.

I can understand why people wouldn't want to post pics of expensive things they have in their house!

But in the old and sold, long gone items, I'll post a few things.

This, without a doubt. You'd have to pry it out of my cold, dead, rotting hands before I let you sell it.

Virtually all that's good is in storage.
The most amazing thing I have, to me, are the home movies shot by one of the crew who was building the Spirit of St. Louis.
These are truly amazing and I'd think priceless for surely they are the only record of that time.
They include Charles Lindbergh climbing on the the Spirit's frame like monkey bars. The plane in flight, probably for the first time. 'Wrong Way Corrigan' is included plus auto racing on the wood track in San Diego. I have 11 of at least 12 reels, wonder what's on the missing one. :(
I have considered making my own video or sending them to auction.

This is mine, not worth a lot of money but I don't think I will find another one.
A cigar lighter, presented to the Montreal Garrison Artillery 1879-80 for DAA Competitive Practice.
I should learn how this works and try it out.

Two things come to mind, the clock sold in 2013 & the framed piece sold in 2012.

I was somewhat clueless for both of these pieces. I knew they were both good pieces, but was blown away when the bidding was done both times.

The clock was very large & was supposedly hung on walls of jewelry stores. The clock had a gorgeous porcelain face & measured 11 13/16" across. The pendulum measured 40 1/2" top to bottom & was 11 11/16" across. I had to ship it in 3 separate boxes to avoid the weights getting any where near the face. :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop:

I am sure many of you remember this Chinese plaque. It was another packing nightmare that I sweated bullets over until it arrived.:eek::eek:
