If anyone can tell me the significance of this photo (stamped unretouched, no less), I would love to hear it. I do not know anyone in this picture and don't really know where it came from, but it must have meant something to someone. May have to hold on to it for a white elephant party. Sorry about the unavoidable reflection. TIA. Hopefully, a laugh if nothing else.
Who knew?? Wish I new a relative or friend that I could give it to. Alas, everyone just says no clue. Thanks for the info.
Hate to hear that...all too often, I'm afraid. We rescued horses until recently. Those poor babies deserve a chance for some quality of life after what they've been through.
All I could say was a gaited horse show or exhibition. It looks like the photographer was shooting in Kentucky some so maybe it might have been The World's Championship there, looks like they are Saddebreds. Totally a guess and quite a stretch at that. http://www.kyhorseshow.com/breeds.html
Ok, it looks like the winner in 2002 was Claude Shiflet – Asheboro, NC so maybe there was a connection to the photographer? http://www.kyhorseshow.com/hallOfFame.html
Truly horrific practices happen to these poor horses to make them move like this. If you are prepared to be shocked Google 'soring Tennessee walking horses'. Barbaric shoeing methods and using acids. There are some undercover videos that make me want to cry for those poor tortured animals. I believe it was going to be banned but Trump vetoed it?.
OMG, so many cruel "events" involving innocent animals and ignorant people. Thanks for the heads up. Think that photo is going to go bye-bye. No good Karma in holding on to that...
Greedy and ambitious not ignorant. These people know exactly what they are doing. Sorry Grateful to spoil your post, you weren't to know but if more people did I'm sure it would be banished to the dark ages where it belongs. Unfathomable why it hasn't been outlawed, oh yes because money and votes are more important
KSW, you didn't spoil my post. I just have been further educated in something I really didn't even know existed. I am just happy nobody in my family or circle of friends is associated with this type of competition. Unfortunately, greed (you are correct, not ignorance-usually) exists in many areas of life. We'll consider this thread eye-opening and call it a day...
