1920s-30s. I've never seen such a heavily carved one before.

I've had a couple of these in the family, but very plain oak. There are a couple of furniture experts on the board who can hopefully come up with more specifics. Can you tell what type of wood it is? I've never seen one in anything but oak.

I think it might be a later piece , possibly 60s , from Indonesia perhaps .

I wondered about Indonesia because I've seen items with that heavy carving, but I've never seen a repro plant stand. Interesting. It may be mass produced, but I do like it.

I think the wood is walnut and I can see why johnnycb09 has made his point, the carving does seem ethnic....

Do you have a picture straight on from the side? And what are the dimensions?

Interesting piece. Not walnut. I am thinking maybe post-war Philippines. It is not the typical work you see out of there but some of the elements, style of the carving, and type of wood are right.
