Ottoman painting??

I have recently acquired this Middle Eastern painting which appears to be a page of very thin paper possibly cut from a book. Painted in what appears to be mineral /natural paint. It looks and smells very old. Any information on the language or depiction would be grateful appreciated. Many thanks Elle and Adam

Tourist painting in Mughal (Moghul) style. Sometimes they are painted on old paper, but it's most likely recent.

 

I'm not so sure it is recent, there are plenty of disbound old Mughal Arabic texts out there. I don't think a picture is enough to be sure.

 

Just artistically, I find it very pleasing in content and color, and motion. Framed, I could see it being a nice addition to any number of décor styles.

Given the slapdash quality of its execution, I would think (much) newer rather than older as well.

I'm no linguist, but it may be Urdu or some variation thereof.

 

Possibly Farsi, written in normal Arabic script.

 

These are generally new. There's a fella that carries them at the wholesale jewelry show. They're painted on old book pages. Some are quite lovely.
