I saw this by the curb and wanted to find out what it is. If you know please tell me because I surely don't know. I thought maybe a saddle stand? or a stool? ^.^ The inside of the pillow is the old stuffing they use to use for cushions.

Also the wooden flaps that are holding the sides up for the cushion are too thin to hold up a human so I don't think it is a stool. I am really leaning towards a saddle stand. Which means it holds a saddle when the horse saddle isn't being used. (just encase someone didn't know what it was.)

  3. Looks like a camel saddle. They were/are used as a decorative item.

hmmm that is a cool one. I hope it is because that is something I would have never have bought or seen anywhere. ^.^ It does fit that . I thought to myself after i posted about the horse saddle that the stirrups would hand and lay on the floor if it were one of those. Thanks

Could it be a pack saddle, sits on a pack horse and has stuff tied to it.

I think camel saddle or camel saddle style footstool. They were popular footstools in, oh I don't know, something like the 50s/60s.

    Definitely a camel stool.

As an aside, some damn fool locally fly tipped a load of Victorian industrial brick path edging locally. You have NEVER seen anything vanish so fast.

Absolutely correct. My parents had several, bought in the Middle East.
They are patterned after the real ones used on camels, but are intended purely for sale to tourists, to be used as stools.

@Trisha B. Yes it made in Camel Saddle style, but not an original camel saddle and it more used as a footstool. Often it is not enough strong for sitting. It more used for foot resting.

    Most definitely a camel seat/bench/stool/thinggummeroonie.

Had one at home for many, many, many years.

Looks like a seat from a shoestore I went to (in the 50's), that Mr. Haber used to get kids to sit down and try on shoes.
Ah, the 50's. Also had one of those X-ray machines to measure your feet. Who knew it was such a bad idea...

As said, a camel saddle stool - my folks bought a couple of dozen near identical at auction in 1971-72, they were labeled as made in Egypt. Sold pretty quick at their shop, my brother still had one of them until a few years ago...

See if you can find you a kilim pillow that will fit on it and use it as a foot rest or a seat. They were pretty popular at one time and like most things . . . they will come around again. Hey, you could be just the person to start them back around. I think it looks cool. Would be great with a kilim style pillow on it especially if the cushion was fashioned out of an old kilim style camel saddle/storage bag.
