    Happy Friday Antiquers,

I’ve had this bowl for several years now and I can’t figure out its origin. I think it could be Italian, but I can’t find any examples with enough similarities to be sure. The shades of blue and its application/style, the orange color, and diamond pattern remind me of the work of Aldo Londi for Bitossi but I’ve also seen bowls by Bagini for Raymor and Rosenthal Netter that are similar in shape/dimension and type of clay. For good measure I’ve also looked at Scandinavian pottery from the era, but find fewer similarities.

The bowl measures just over 10” in diameter and just under 3” in height. There is very faded writing on the bottom, I think it reads B480 or B400 along with some additional writing underneath.

Thank you so much for your thoughts/input. A.jpeg B.jpeg D.jpeg

I don't think it's Italian, clay body looks wrong.

    I suspect West German.
