Probably Josef Rieber of Selb (1868-1923). That was a decorating shop. Large gold floral marks like those frequently cover the marks of the plate manufacturer - the maker of the blank that the Rieber firm decorated. If you hold the plate to a bright light, you may be able to see other marks under those gold ones.

The maker of the blank is really not important.

Nope, Asian repro. Note that the stamp reads "VICWNA". Normally accompanied by an oval "OEOETZUCH OESCNUTZT" (really spelled like that!) mimicking the presence of "GESETZLICH GESCHÜTZT". Was discussed on the eBay PGP board a few years back regarding decorated tiles which even included an impressed VIENNA. Turned out to have been marketed via a known repro importer/distributor from the Netherlands (I think I even posted pictures of their warehouse, IIRC).

    Hi there,

please don't get me wrong here - source with random someones opinion - with no facts to back it up.

    Thank you for your replay.

Chris is the owner of the website that Brenda linked to. He has studied and done extensive research German porcelain and wanna be items for many years, and doesn't just give up opinions as fact.

An Asian reproduction would explain one thing that's been bothering me about this plate from the beginning. The marks run in a straight line from top to bottom like an Asian script. I have never seen a Western produced plate with five marks in a straight line.
