I bought this thinking it would work on a clock i have but it's a bit heavy. i was hoping to get an idea of age and possible maker so i can sell it. it is made of solid brass, 6 1/4" long with a threaded shaft. weight is about 3 oz.

    Yikes, I didn’t realize that!
It looks like maybe a daisy in the center.
    Maybe @afantiques has an idea.

It is posssibly from a German wall clock but is most likely from an American shelf clock with a glass panel below the dial that shows the pendulum.

Weight, within reason, is not usually a problem with pendulums, as Galileo noticed some time ago, length is the critical factor.

I suggest improvising anything that works using whatever is available, then you will have a better idea of what proper pendulm to get.

You also need to know if your pendulum is directly suspended from the back cock, or if it is like the one you have that hooks onto a pendulum leader.

Thank you very much af. It was for my small owl clock with the rotating eyes.

Typically that would need a very light pendulum as the escapement impulse is pretty feeble.
