    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

About your three birds. If it helps to identify them...

If they have 2 toes forward, 2 back, they are lovebirds (with not-hooked enough beaks). If they have 3 toes forward and I back, they are some kind of passerine: I would just say finches. That is all true *IF* the sculptor knows his/her bird toes. :)

    1. Called satin glass, not frosted. Looks to be a nice piece since the bottom is polished. Sorry can't help with maker.

    2. Is the eagle hollow? I can't tell from your photo.

    4. Candy jar

Gila, the birds have three toes in the front, can't see the back toes as they are covered by tail feathers.

clutteredcloset49, the vase does have a polished base and is nice quality, I actually expected to see it signed but it is not. The eagle is hollow.

Josh... given the fact that they are "kissing", I think I'd still include 'lovebirds' even though the beaks and toes aren't right. So many artists take such license with birds, and so many buyers don't know and don't care... they want something pretty, not necessarily ornithologically correct. I think I'd still call them 'lovebirds or finches' just to make sure the listing comes up in the searches by all possible buyers.

Believe the eagle, a bookend...one of a pair...is by Imperial.

The birds are the lid to a powder jar produced by LE Smith circa 1930s.

    Don, that is amazing!
I still think it's a cute collectible. Does anything give it away as a lid, if it were just offered as décor? Or should it's origin be revealed anyway?

Hi Gila - It's been awhile since I handled one but I believe it's the light weight and that lip that give it away as a lid. No reason it couldn't function as its own collectible though. It's even prettier in color. It was also made in clear satin, rose (clear or satin) and green (clear or satin). It might be worth trying to find the base. LE Smith used the same base on other powder jars so there might be a few spares floating around.

That would be a fun adventure, Gregggsie.
After all my ornithological obsessing, do you recall if they were "billed" (pun not intended, but noticed!) as lovebirds or... ?

They're just called "Three Birds". You've got to love the originality:happy:

    Three Birds.

Actually, I'm so glad. I would have had an ornithological melt-down had they been called love birds OR finches. Generic birds. Just birds. Birds. Three.

    Three birds.
