Need help with interesting modern oil painting with signature

    Hi all,


    Had the day off today and visited a house clearance market in London.
    I found a interesting painting which I bought and was wondering if somebody here recognize the artist or signature. Its a bit difficult for me to find more info about it. To me it looks like a person who is traveling and holding his bag over his shoulder with his sword? Looks like it got some aged to it, maybe from the 60s or so? or? I don't know. Thank you for taking the time.

    Impressionistic, perhaps from the 1960s or so. I cannot read the signature.

    Odd to carry an open sword like that, an accident waiting to happen.

    btw : @chantaljones , thanks for the good photographs, in close inspection of the frame, I would guess it is a 1970s frame. Of course it could always have been framed later...

    Student work. Proportions are off, details are fuzzy, hands no good.
