    Hi All
I purchased this strange beautiful box from a flea Market in Europe. It is nicely made of colorful sand stones with artistic dried butterfly wings on top.Except the word 'Brasil' I could not judge its date of origin. Most probably it is vintage ...I have attached 3 pics. Can anyone suggest its potential value and its nature? Thanks!

When I lived in Brasil in the 70's, these were pretty common tourist pieces. They have since outlawed use of butterfly wings in pieces like this. So I'm assuming it is from the seventies. The stones are all probably various quartz pieces not nice enough for jewelry. It is a trinket box.

I concur with Bdigger. As an added note, the little straw flowers in the clear center, they were popular during the 70's also.

We used to sell these in a gift shop on Cape Cod in the late 70s-early 80s. I gave one to my Mom. The owners lived in Florida in the winter and I'm pretty sure they were imported, as stated, from South America. They were different shapes because my Mom's was square. pic1-.jpg
