    Hi,
I picked up this small pottery piece, not sure if this is Japanese or Chinese. It is 4"H x 3 1/2"W, marked on the base with signature and maybe BB?
The glaze is quite nice, the colours seems to run together - is there a term for this?
    Any information appreciated.
    thanks for looking

Nice yunomi with tenmoku glaze, not necessarily Japanese.
Quite a few western studio potters have used Japanese marks.
There is a studio pottery group on facebook.

The mark reads 島人 Shimato. This is a Japanese name, not to exclude the possibility that it was adopted by a potter outside Japan.

Thank-you khl889! Yes, from what I've seen this probably was made outside of Japan.
