Yes I know exactly what you are talking about, don't remember the name for such markings though. I predict someone else will remember the name though!

 

I searched for information about this book for a long time. I didn’t find much at all, I hope that here maybe someone knows more or knows where to find. Thanks

 

2manycats provided a link to similar copies of this book on abebooks.com, a website where dealers list books for sale. He also explained that you may have an example of a "fore-edge painting". In this case it would be what is known as a disappearing painting, where the image is only visible when the pages are fanned out. It is not visible when the pages are closed.
