Welcome, Mewichi! Can't say I've seen one like this, but my first thought is that the strap is intended for hanging it onto something else. Is the loop big enough to get your finger through?

Hi, Mewichi! and as Bakers has said, WELCOME!

I took the liberty of cropping your photo & posting it here:
    strapped jar.jpg

There are folks who check in here on their phones, and they can't always see the tiny pictures in links.

Can you perhaps add a bit more info about your item? I can't quite tell: is it ceramic? Is the strap leather?

Like Bakers, I'm wondering if the strap is for carrying... or maybe it's meant to hold on a lid that isn't included here?

I tried to answer you earlier but the post disappeared and since then SBSVC fixed your photo and explained its size issue as I was on my phone then and am now.

I swear I've seen such a thing and I think it's simply a way for someone in an Asian culture to carry food/and or drink.

It's interesting, but I don't think it's for food. At any rate, Asian people already have tiffin carriers:

It looks like a brush carrier to me. It's the kind of thing a man would have had on his belt if I'm remembering correctly. Pockets are a Western thing, as were satchels, so that sort of thing would have been useful.

Can we see a picture of it separated?
Also we don't know the size, that might help us.
Overall size and size of the individual pieces.
