Low quality carving so I guess on the recent side? Plus, I see sap here and there so I would think the wood is fairly fresh?

Sorry to say - BUT that is creepy! I could see that running down my hallway at midnight trying to chase me!

It won't chase you, it's just wood :)

So... we can still see and hear evil.
I actually think he's cute. Truly.
Yes, crude, but I think somebody would want him. Maybe somebody who deals in hearing stuff... musicians, audiologists, DJs...
I have never seen sap like that.

The sap appears to be on areas with no cracks, chips or other openings in the wood. Kind of strange. Wonder if it came from the carved piece or transfered from something else sitting next to it.
Also, it turned out that sap can stay in lumber for a long time. Actually, it stays inside unless the wood is dried in a kiln. It can start bleeding even in hundred years if exposed to a heat.

Yes - and sap is non existent in dried hardwoods, and ALMOST not in dried pine. If it was a hunk of evergreen pine cut down I can see it. But the "airiness" of the wood, and it needs to be soft for that type of carving, makes me think it is basswood, not pine.

I'm with you on that one - dripped from another type of wood - doesn't look to be anyway it seeped from that piece!!
