I , Sir , do not know clocks....but I do know this...on this board you do not get to tell anyone what they can and can not post.
You put up an item to show us, and that Sir, it the extent to which you have any control over whatever may follow.
Any member here has the right to post their opinions or observations , whatever they may be, and you can defend your item vigorously , where you see fit.

But let's be very clear ...... personal comments and attempts to silence members that you do not agree with........are frowned upon & not welcomed !

    Hello
I do not want to silence any one,I thought this forum was for intelligent informative discussion.
I am very sorry if I have said something wrong.

As you said you do not know anything about clocks,so may you do not get my point
about my original post ,which was if you do not have the knowledge about the subject do not post incorrect assumptions.

Maybe I have misunderstood the point of this forum according to you people can post what they like ,except for me.

I am on this forum to receive and forward information and knowledge .

    Regards Giotto

The movement of the late 19th c. Boulle clock is French. In this case an English retailer has stamped their address on the movement.

There are no fixed rules, only common practices.

Hi for members interest, the stamp JB.D on the back plate is for Jean Baptiste Delettrez 1816-1887.
Archile Brocot &Delettrez, were in partnership Brocot et Delettrez 1851.
Delettrez worked on his own after Brocot died in 1878.
It seems my clock was made between 1878-1887 When Delettrez died.

    Regards Giotto
