Porcelain Kitten, Owl, and Cup

Hello everyone!
I'm looking for some information about my kitten and owl figures and cup.

The Kitten figure I received from a relative as a gift when I was young. It has no markings and I always wondered when it was made and who it came from.

I purchased the owl at a yard sale, despite the mark, I haven't had much luck finding decent information about it.

The cup I also purchased from a yard sale. I looked it up a bit, and found out that it is quite old (any further info is appreciated!) The glaze on the cup is stained and I tried baking soda/peroxide/salt to try and clean it and nothing. Anyone know other ways to help remove the stains? So far I'm enjoying it the way it is, but if I was able to help with the staining that would be awesome!

The "Cup" is most often called a Cream Soup bowl. As for the staining.....I have successfully removed staining on a blue and white platter that had a discolored crazed area by soaking it for a couple days in bleach water. I don't know if that will help with your piece but it may be worth a try.

 

I think the owl is by Molla Pottery of Vancouver. It seems there are are other small figurine pieces like mice by her out there. According a query on Pottery Collectors board, "started the pottery classes at the university in Vancouver B.C. she also made these pieces for the Hudson Bay Co." Here are 2 owls by her. THere is a pic of the markings.

Hi,
DO NOT SOAK the bowl in bleach. Bdigger you are very very very lucky that the platter did not get "eaten" from the bleach. I would suggest the peroxide soak but the red flowers might turn a pale pink or even disappear. Over the years I made the bleach mistake, some came out okay others started to leach out particles after a while and fell into pieces. I started out using the peroxide soak on ironstone and it was fine. Figured it was okay for other things. Big mistake red designs turned pink and some died out completely. Wait for others comments.

No, No, NO!
The first time I did that it took all the colored pattern out of the item. Can't remember what it was at the moment that I did it too. Only that I ruined it with the bleach.

As greg said use peroxide.
Every one says to get it at beauty supply places. However, I have used the regular peroxide from the pharmacy with good results.

Sometimes I just coat it and let it sit. Sometimes I soak for a day or two. Have had no problem with colors fading.

Bleach is the worst thing to use on anything. It is way overated.
Vinegar, peroxide, borax are all better substitutes.
