I removed your photos because the information you are giving is false.
This is not Victorian, it is a reproduction from the 1950's 60's.

Again I do not agree with you ,You have deleted evidence that was part of the discussion as I said I was an Antique furniture restorer-dealer for 45years
I restored many of these, that came over from England,
    you are 100% incorrect.

I am posting another image of a Victorian sideboard ,I would appreciate that this image is not deleted so that members can make up their own minds.
and the owner of the sideboard gets to see the image so that he can make up his own mind.

My gut feeling when I saw this last night was 1800s.
This certainly has the look of the mid to late 1800s sideboard. Whether or not it is I don't really know.

    @Mrscurious
Would it be possible for you to take everything out of the center section and take a picture straight on looking into the cabinet. We need to see a picture of the inside back.

Anyone can post pictures of originals from the web that look similar to the OP's
But it does not take away the fact that this is a reproduction.

Here are pics of the back, there are 3 panels, the end 2 are nailed in, the middle one is screwed in and is bevelled, they look like timber panels. there are back.jpg back1.jpg back2.jpg back6.jpg back7.jpg back8.jpg what may be screw holes at each end.

Well if this is a reproduction, I think they used old wood and parts from an antique piece.

So put me on mute if you want. I tend to agree with giotto.

As for the mortise flush lock, it looks replaced with a new screw. Does not fit correctly into the crevice made for it. That form of lock has been around for a long time. The newer ones are lighter weight and don't have an arch where the
    push up is.

Hi CC are my pics from the back enough, or would you like me to move the sideboard again and take pics from the front?

You are correct that is a Victorian lock ,the back also Victorian work on the back solid pine chamfered panels, have we seen any plywood yet?that was used in 50s -60s furniture.
What companies made these in the 50s-60s can you show me some examples?
Same lock as on my Victorian chiffonier.
    Regards .

Doesn't really know, knows just enough about english furniture to get me in trouble.
I have heard that to a large extent, England built furniture by hand into the 1930s, I don't know if that is correct though.
I doubt it matters much value wise if this server/sideboard was built in 1890 or 1950 or somewhere in between.

I will let members make make up their own minds, once they view the sideboards on google, made by Lexterte's . What is Mrscurios's verdict.
As they say.I rest my case.
    Regards Giotto.

James: Yes, English cabinet makers built furniture - dovetails in particular - by hand well into the 1930s, even later in some cases. Not much difference in value indeed between 1890 and a mid 20th century reproduction.

I am weighing back in on this but , like James, know just enough about English furniture to get me in trouble. If this were American, there would be no way this could be a 20th century piece. Have to concede that the hardware shown is more consistent with 20th century than 19th. Consequently, have to bow to those across the pond for identification. Couldn't this be a pre-war piece rather than 50s-60s? Hard for me to conceive that all this hand work and use of solid materials was still being done in the 50s and 60s.
