Featured Ring which opens with writing on plaques x

Hello friends xx
Just got this ... think it's silver.

I can't work out what is is.
Not even sure what the language is. I know I can't read it xx
(I thought was a poison ring ( got it from eBay in a detecting lot) but now am clueless )











Can anyone give me some terms to look,please?

I think the stone is a stone,and not glass, can't see bubbles...it does have a scuff and some surface scratches xx

My money is on some kind of Muslim religious prayer of some kind but could also be a love poem.

Arabic writing for sure, stone is carnelian

***DISCLAIMER I don't know what a hadid ring is, I could be wrong***

(I just took a quick look and are these called Hadid rings? Wasn't sure if that was the name of the stone or the ring and think it's the ring?)

It's a bit big for me, but the only skinny thing about me are my fingers n wrists so they are smaller than average...could be a ladies ring as I think a man's would be huge?

This makes me think that Hadid means prayer or script, because it's more describing the stone and it doesn't open up?

Personally, I have some hinged "poison pill" rings with one hidden compartment under the cabochon, but not this "fold out" stuff. Does the one silver oval hang off the main ring even when folded up?

Love the ring, Bou. Agree, the script is Arabic, and it is silver and carnelian.

I know them as Aqeeq rings, rings with a carnelian or agate and an Islamic inscription.
As far as I know hadid is a black stone, not reddish, like this one. But you can probably have an aqeeq ring with a hadid stone.

Hadids are indeed black (sort of), they are hematite, not carnelian:

It is very unusual. I would have bought it too.

I am still very curious as to how the ring sits on one's finger? As I asked above, does that one silver oval "piece" hang from the main ring even when folded up? That, to me, is the most unique aspect.

 

It looks like there is a 'box' on the inside, which slips over the bottom of the ring face. The discs fold into the box, and it all sits snugly between the finger and the ring face.

 

I will believe you, Any Jewelry, but would love to see how it looks "snugly tucked under"....Come on, BoudiccaJones!
