Hi, this inkstand is about 13 inches wide, heavy, and I believe cast iron (attracts to a magnet) with a bronze/brass finish. The cover to the inkwell slides to the side to open, and also can be lifted off.

I'm not sure of age. The woman I got it from said it was a gift 20-30 years ago, and she said it could have been used at that time, but she didn't know. What do you all think?

    Thanks!

    Hi,
It looks very much like an 1980s reproduction. It is pretty and looks like a likeness of the "pre Raphaelite" women.

Definitely Art Nouveau styling. Can't comment on how old it may be.

Looks newish to me, 1980s like Greg said. In the Art Nouveau period I find the faces are much nicer. The repro things the faces are not nearly as lovely and the workmanship is never as good. Sorry, JMHO :(
