    Hi,
I'm new to this forum. Love antique items and finally got round to signing up after months of lurking on this site. Would appreciate your thoughts on a pair of garden chairs I've recently got hold of.

Does anyone know whether these are original Arras french chairs? Approximately what year would they have been made?

    Thanks.

These are not chairs that I have any first hand knowledge of being in the US. A quick search of Arras chairs does not bring up any quite like yours. The armless versions I find are a more upright dining type chair. There is an armless bench but the support structure is different than yours. I am not finding any Arras chairs that have bolt on stretchers as yours have. I also find that these chairs usually have a paw foot on the front that yours lacks. Based on this, I would have to say that yours are probably knock-offs.

Hi verybrad, thanks and well spotted on the bolt. I hadn't noticed that bit of detail!

Very much like their honest shape and think they'll clean up good.
