That pretty much looks like it, except ours has a very bad paint job. Anyone have an idea how old?

The introduction of indoor flush toilets started to displace chamber pots, in the 19th century but they remained common until the mid-20th century. The alternative to using the chamber pot was a long cold walk to the outhouse in the middle of the night. They are still used in rural areas, but many if not most are around 100 year old...imo.

I think yours is the original paint job. The one in the ebay link has been refinished.
That dark stain I believe used in the 1910s-20s.

:D Could have been our place. Rural electrification didn't happen here in northeastern North Carolina until the late 40's. We think the farm may have still been using an outhouse up until the late 50's.

It's a potty chair, no doubt about it.

    Guesses 1900 or so.

Yeah, I don't doubt it, "modern" plumbing was born in the 1930s when they finally figured out how to vent plumbing fixtures.
So, even though plumbers/plumbing has been around for thousands of years, modern plumbing is not even "antique".
By 1940, half the houses in USA lacked any kind of modern plumbing, piped water, bath/shower, flush water closets.

The reason i guessed 1900 on your potty chair, the restored Ebay example posted above is oak which i suspect yours is under that paint and oak didn't really take off here furniture wise until that time period.
