Mini "Little Jewel" finger lamp Carnival Glass?

A few days ago I bought a miniature green glass footed finger lamp embossed with "Little Jewel." It stands 3 3/8" to top of collar. It is in very good condition. I know the burner is not really there. That didn't bother me for several extra mini burners. Anyways, I got it for only $22. In 2006 price guides valued colored glass ones at $125 scarce. I have seen them sold at 2 to $300+.

It is listed/pictured in S1 (Smith's Miniature Lamps, I), p. 52, fig. 44. The seller said it was "vaseline" glass and "Early 1900s U.S. Glass Co." I agree with the early 1900s because it has an inset brass collar that weren't produced until 1910+. I haven't found any reference to it being by U.S. Glass and not sure if vaseline glass. Smith only says made in clear and in green glass. Searching the web for any reference of it being US Glass came up with a yellow one pictured on the Carnival Heaven website in the Novelty section Part 11.. The site says:
"LITTLE JEWEL Finger Lamp: With risk of repetition, we must say again that this falls into the “after-market” category. Eleanor Hamilton enjoyed the unusual in miniatures and this was part of her collection."

Back to my original question, is this carnival glass? Does anyone know if US Glass had any connection to these miniature lamps? I haven't found anything connecting US Glass in any of my many miniature lamp books as well as my many oil lamp references. I have queried the seller for their US Glass source, but haven't heard back. TIA.

It doesn't look like Carnival glass. I collected it for years, but that doesn't mean I saw every color. Who is the guy that is the expert on Carnival? He has a website that everyone goes to. Umm - David Doty.

I didn't think it looked like carnival glass either, but then I have only dealt with a very few pieces of carnival glass. I didn't know whether that Carnival Heaven website was reputable. Thank you for suggesting the Doty site, Bev. I'll look around over there.

I just got a reply in from the seller about the US Glass connection. He/She said the info was from a WorthPoint listing. Wellll..... WorthPoint is anything but an expert. All they do is "ape" what someone else has put in an online description. It seems the WorthPoint listing connected US Glass because of the collar. They say the collar was a patented by US Glass and that the company was very protective of their patents <per McDonald, "Evolution of the Night Lamp">; therefore, "we'd guess" the lamp was made by US Glass. Excuse me for another welllll... That certainly is not a reliable source to say US Glass was the lamp maker. Those inset brass threaded glass collars were made by several companies. Here is the WorthPoint listing that mentions US Glass:

People seem to be taken in by the name "WorthPoint." I've seen some less-than-accurate descriptions of items I know, so I don't use them for reference.

I've seen down right ridiculous descriptions on there (WP) more often than not. Down right ludicrous.

The first link shows a lamp that isn't carnival glass.
The second one appears to have a marigold iridescence so it would be carnival, but the base glass is clear. And what's up with that "after-market" comment. Old Carnival glass lamps of any type are rare.

If there is no iridescence it's not Carnival Glass.

I think the free version of WorthPoint only includes old eBay listings that were harvested. So, take it with a grain of salt, just as you would any eBay listing. I think there is a paid version of WorthPoint, but haven't paid so I don't know what it includes.

Yes, it must be iridized and I think that many of these novelties that are lightly iridized in a marigold are what is called mineral bath iridized which was done in Marlin Tx from the early 1900s to the mid 1900s. I have a couple of iridized shakers that I believe were iridized that way. That lamp pictured on the Frys website may just be that too.

    Just my 2 cents :)

I can't offer anything about your lamp, but just wanted to say how neat it is!

A little off topic but me thinks Worthpoint is owned by Ebay.

A little OT, but I have shared a subscription to Terapeak with 2 or 3 other people for 3 years now & I think it is wonderful. JMHO

It is an on-line service that gives you results of up to a years worth of auctions/BIN sales among other things, such as checking out other members or your own sales for up to a year.
I use it to research almost everything before buying.

I share the subscription with 3 other people right now & it runs each of us $67.49 each for a year's subscription. We do not have access to international sales because that costs extra, but I see no need to have that information. It has really helped me out when I am out shopping & come across something I am just not sure about. It has helped me save money as well as helped me make money & has definitely paid for itself.

Yes, WorthPoint copies eBay listings. It's valuable because it goes many years back in time, and eBay searches go back, at the most, only 90 days.
