    Does anyone recognize the mark?

I found this for only $3 and although it was broken I thought it would at least be cut down if not worthy of restoration. I could make it symmetrical by cutting off the one handle and sealing with gold leaf or gold enamel on both sides.

The funny thing is that I saw a Chinese similar sized pot today with the same kind of handles. Not sure they would connect though. It was less than $15 but will have to use my phone to take a picture so I could compare. It was a modern pot but the handles were gold covered.

I wonder how much cold is in one of those Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi pot handles?

Also! A very funny thing. The lid has something in it. If you shake the lid you can hear something like metal going back and forth.

I was thinking I might remember something I heard or read somewhere about encasing something of value in a ceramic in case of use in time of need?

You could check with your local High school or college that has a ceramics department..Maybe someone could make another handle for you.
