Can't quite make out the artist name. Signed on the front and titled St. Petersburg. The back has faint writings "Oil Painting St Petersburg By R. ....? and the address of the previous owner.

Any help with artist's name. St. Petersburg I guess in Florida?

The city code as opposed to a zip code points to pre-1965 or thereabouts

And now that I look closer at the painting, I do not believe that there are any mill races in St. Petersburg, Fl

Wonder why the name on the back is different from that R. Hant ( or whatever it is) on the front.

Maybe the one on the back is a married name.

    You rock!

I don't know if pre-Highwaymen style is a good thing. The original
Highwaymen artists are very sought. I had Sam Newton piece before before.

I think the back reads Gebhart, so maybe that Hart is short for it.

or St. Petersburg, NY. There are water wheels in Florida today like at Deleon Springs,, St. Augustine, Juniper Springs, and somewhere in the Ocala National Forest reached only by kayak.

Here are vintage pics of a few Florida water wheels. The surroundings of none of them look like this painting.

Did you ever find out any more about this painter? I stumbled on a painting by the same artist with the same signature and bought it but all of my research is coming up short.
