I bought this about a month ago while down near the Cape visiting DS#2. I love chalkware and I thought I loved this too until I got it home and unwrapped it.

It is about 2 feet long and weighs 5 million pounds.

I can't read the name on the back. I figure if I know who made it I might be able to get rid of it easier.

Also, would I be crazy to sell this on ebay and try and send it through the mail?

Thanks Davey - it is a similar style. But it's like comparing Jayne Mansfield to Grace Kelley.

"Depose" I usually associate with France.

    I see maybe A. Carchy

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It looks like her legs must be very short. At first I thought she was kneeling or something. Is that why you said it's a monstrosity? I sort of like that style, although see what you mean about the comparison with the one in Davey's link.

I guess when I saw her in the store I was thinking Art Deco. When I got her home and unwrapped her I was very surprised to see what she was wearing.:bored::yuck::D

I also have one of those giant chalkware things. I can't get to it right now but if I remember correctly, it was 20" or 21" long. No markings on mine. I did try to sell it on ebay but the shipping cost was shocking and that was a few years ago, I can't imagine what it would cost now.

    In the third photo (the "thin/short" photo) I see: O R A 49 . . . or 42 or 47 before the word "Depose." ;)

That's extremely mild compared to the present day.

In fact the torso is short and the skirt (legs?) is long.

When one views these vague signatures the brain and eyes can play tricks on us, but it appears to me to be: G. (or y.) Carchi (or Carchu).
Is it chalkware (a form of plaster of Paris)? If you can scratch it with a finger nail and easily remove a white powder, it is probably chalkware.
