Spanish handpainted tile

    And another long time member off the collection . Big tile hand painted and looks like spaamse tegel  (3).JPG spaamse tegel  (2).JPG spaamse tegel  (10).JPG spaamse tegel  (7).JPG taken out out off concrete wall . So any idea's by the painter in this style ? Thanks

    Her outfit is 30s-40s,other than that ,I got nothing.

    I see a French influence, just post-war, doing the jitter bug......................

    I saw French also, I think the man's hat looks like a beret.

    Reminds me of holidays on the French Riviera. It is a flower growing area, so girls in local dress are often depicted with flowerbaskets:

    The costume in these pictures is from Nice, but there are regional and local variations. The man is wearing generic french farmer or peasant dress, but the small straw boater is also worn in the French Riviera area.

    Going by what I just wrote, the pottery would be Provencal. Vallauris is famous, and in the Riviera area.

    I think the clay isn't the right colour for Vallauris, though.

    You're absolutely right. I was so caught up in holiday memories, I hadn't noticed the colour. Could be somewhere else in the region, there is an amazing variety of clay colours there and just about every village has pottery production.
