Beautiful piece! I'm curious, is the overlay applied (as in enamel), or is it cast metal just fitted over the glass? Is the neck cracked off or is that a symptom of the photography?

The neck is cracked and the metal is by the looks etched in this shape . So ceramic vase surrounded by red copper afterwards gilded (tested gold) . what I do like to find is similar designs so age and maker would be very handy and country off origin

I have its big brother. It's called electroforming. Mine is silver plated copper over green pottery and I love it to bits. No clue who precisely made it, but it's late 19th to early 20th from the style, and decoration. The consensus elsewhere was that it's French or Belgian. 181A.jpg 181B.jpg 181C.jpg 181D.jpg

Very nice vase and very similar to mine in techniques . Mine was seen by a big auction house and seen as art nouveau vase from eastern Europe and value €600 euro as is .

I'd be very surprised if either of them are that much, to be honest. I think I paid the equivalent of 20 euro at auction for it.

I'm in the US and haven't seen anything like those. They probably wouldn't do that well here either. Ceramics and glass just aren't moving.
