This particular piece has been said to be a Gandhara statue from 300AD.
Can anyone suggest its authenticity,or state their views regarding this statue.
    Regards

It does resemble some of the seated buddhas found in Gandhara. Gandhara is now in present day Pakistan. The most famous "Seated Buddha from Gandhara" is in the British Museum. It is carved in black schist, and is 95 cm high and 53 cm wide (37+"high and 20+"wide). Seems 2 other similar ones have been found. They date to the 2nd & 3rd century AD. There are other similar ones in museums around the world. According to Wikipedia:

"These Buddhas are widely considered to be the rarest of all Buddhist sculptures and despite iconoclasm, they can be found in the museums of France, Germany, Japan, Korea, China, India, and Afghanistan as well as those still remaining in Pakistan."

I haven't a clue if yours is one of them or just one of the thousands of imitations of carved seated Buddhas. It certainly does not have the fine detail of the famous ones. A reputable museum or/and archaeologist, could tell for sure.

    sorry for the phrasing......

" Above your paygrade "...or beyond my paygrade. , involving a higher level of responsibility than I have, and therefore something that should be dealt with by someone more senior than me. This expression is often used figuratively to say that you do not have the knowledge or authority to decide about something.
