Yes, these are the ones I love. They occur in the desert areas of SW US and Northern Mexico. I used to go rockhounding for them in the Mojave Desert in the early fifties.

That's lovely OBB. The stone is gorgeous but the pin and metal are interesting too. I like the way the maker has really thought how to mount it.

 

Isn't it pretty. A great deal of work for non precious components, too.

 

Yes, very similar in the shape and setting, your agate is nicer though and a more practical shape, mine has some pointy edges just asking to get knocked off.

 

It's a Frankenstein marriage.

 

I think you are right, @Hollyblue.
I don't think this agate is original to that setting, hence the broken claws and the oval underside.

 

But a good one!
