Black Luster Pottery Vase

    Any suggestions on who made it?

    It looks to me like the marks on the bottom are a notation that includes the date of the gift and the giver. It makes some sense as 1948 is a good time frame for that vase. I think it's American but for the life of me I can't think of who was producing black luster about that time and the shape doesn't look familiar. Another search term for that finish might be gunmetal gray.

    Seems like it says 1938 and then 1948.

    It looks like the Pricknash glaze, but the bottom is wrong and it's not signed.
