Help old harpoon?

    I'm thinking it is not a harpoon; it appears the trailing edge of the triangular point is sharp, which would not usually be the case with a harpoon, I'm guessing.
    Some kind of brush-cutting tool?
    How long is the handle?

    You are right about that, Steve, thanks.

    The cutting edge looks small and hooked. If it once had a long handle, could it have been used to cut line from a boat?

    It has a 7' handle so some type of cutting tool makes sense, thank you for your thoughts and time regards Joe.

    Maybe some kind of pike pole, like the ones firefighters use.
