Hi does anyone know anything about this pendant. It has initials on the back possibly FLG but too small to make out. Thanks

In the future, would you be kind enough to include the closure in your photographs of jewelry? They are helpful to dating. I would suspect a little souvenir necklace from a trip to Africa in the 1960s. South Africa most likely.

@Lana I cannot tell if it is marked on the back or not?
I would not expect to see this on an African souvenir.

Yes, thanks, that's definitely a makers mark though!
I am not a costume jewelry maven, but hopefully someone will recognize the back stamp.

    Hello,
I have got exactly same pendant. The mark on mine piece is legible. It says Reg. D, meaning registered design. I know UK had registered design marks until 1991, I'm not sure about South Africa.

It is not advisable that you wear this as jewellery because it’s an depiction of a black person by white creators; the type is common, and the consensus has been in recent years that it fetishises primitivism in a way that enables racism. It has historic value, but aesthetic depictions of black people shouldn’t really come from races that victimised them.
