Thanks so much for this. I appreciate your doing some research. I noticed names on the bottoms of some pieces but not this generic one or perhaps the company is Tal Mex. I read in that Wikipedia article about the ebb and flow of this form of art and how it has centered in this city of Puebla.

Lived 18 years in New Mexico; in Mexico often. Me thinks perchance this pattern & pot is from the mid-1980s through 1990.

I know what you mean. It looks like a carnivorous plant.

    A Moroccan jar for comparison.

I can see the resemblance. Thanks for tracking this down. I was supposed to go on a tour of Morocco on April 8 through the 20th of this year, so I could have seen the pottery for myself. Now I don't know when I will go.

It seems it's impossible to identify it, I think it's a tourist item that could be sold in one of the local stores, but what seems interesting for me is that it's signed with paint, while the majority of contemporary ones that I saw are signed with a permanent marker, so in any case, it might have some years. My husband, who is Mexican, says it looks to him as those from the 1980s.

Thanks. Excellent news that it has some age. I appreciate you sharing this way of identifying potentially new items as having a marker rather than painted. Tell your husband thank you from me.
