NOW! You are going to say that I am totally mad, but when I first glimpsed that painting I though "Galveston Island"...........and I have no idea why.................

FINALLY!!!! Some who agrees with me. Not fighting me tooth and nail, telling me what an arse and idiot I am. Someone not denigrating my opinion and making me feel a fool!! Someone ................oh, wait....this is the Antiquer's Board, not a conversation with my wife.....................

    So sorry, carry on...............

Flash burn makes it almost impossible to see anything. An experienced member should know to discard any pictures with flash burn and try again.

My first thought was Bermuda, but then I know nothing about Galveston (or Bermuda so far as that goes).

It's behind that "glare-free" glass, isn't it? That stuff blurs detail even when it's right up against the work.

Not Bermuda in my opinion. Been there several times and never saw a house like this.

Not Bermuda, in my opinion, and I've been there several times. I thought Savannah, but looking at images of Galveston Island, it seems like a better choice.

Just chiming in with the chorus to agree possibly Galveston. Question, is that a front walk leading to a sidewalk and street, a pier/dock thingie leading to water, or a walk leading to a beach? I feel if the house was in Savannah, Mobile, Charleston or any of those older coastal southern cities with palm trees, it would certainly show Spanish moss draped over an oak somewhere.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Susan... agreeing about the Moss.

About the walkway... can't make my mind up, except in Galveston at least, the big houses along the Strip don't face the water as I recall. But why no water in background then?
    Grrrrr.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Now I think that's the Gulf in the background... if we're going with the Galveston thing.

Ya know... you COULD use Google Streetview and "drive" up and down Broadway and/or the strip area, to see if it's still there. Many are.

    Hmmmmmm... also...
There is a Voss family in Galveston. Involved with civics and local history. Current patriarch is Kurt Voss, I think.

There is a local historical society. They may be able to identify.
